LUXOTTICA: Giorgio Armani Optical Collection

Luxottica launches a 19-piece Giorgio Armani Optical Collection. An 18-piece sunglass collection was previewed here in June. The rich collection with its pure, natural lines, refined colors and distinctive details offers a frame for every look, from the stylish models inspired by Armani eveningwear to renewed, classic unisex looks and modernized retro glasses. The result is the timeless, universal style for which Giorgio Armani is renowned. The new eyewear line is presented in three collections: Luxury/Kaleidoscope is characterized by attention to detail, fine craftsmanship and precious elements. Frames of Life recalls vintage shapes with sophisticated, iconic accents. Standard/Timeless Elegance features classic styles interpreted in refined, contemporary shapes.

INSIGHT
In 1975, Giorgio Armani and Sergio Galeotti started the Giorgio Armani Company and founded the Armani label. Armani’s trademark was reinterpretations of the traditional business suit—unstructured, relaxed designs for men and masculine-inspired styles for women. In the 1980s, the Armani “power suit” came to symbolize an era of international economic boom, and the 1980 film “American Gigolo” starring Richard Gere wearing Armani suits made the Armani name a household word.
