For more than 30 years, Zimco Optics, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., has been family-owned and operated. CEO Allen Zimberg, a staple in the optical industry since 1950, founded Zimco in 1978. In 1988, his son Mitchell joined the company, climbing through the ranks to become company president.
