EYEWEAR DESIGNS: CUBAVERA

A RELAXED TWIST ON TRADITION

Eyewear Designs launches Cubavera, a lifestyle brand that bridges both the old and new worlds, bringing the elements of old-world Latin charm to the modern individual. Cubavera transcends categorization, appealing to a broad consumer demographic throughout the U.S. and abroad with its signature shirts, jackets, pants, shorts and accessories. Targeted to the contemporary man 18 to 55, Cubavera Eyewear consists of 12 styles (nine metals, one zyl and two metal/zyl combinations). Designs are inspired by the traditional guayabera shirt and art deco designs of South Beach for a relaxed, casual, but elegant look that follows the philosophy of the Cubavera brand. Most frames are equipped with spring hinges and adjustable nosepads.

INSIGHT
In 1967, Cuban-born brothers George and Isaac Feldenkreis began importing children’s school uniforms from Japan into Puerto Rico, then focused on guayaberas, the four-pocket embroidered tropical shirt that is a symbol of Latin culture. George expanded the business to Miami, where he became known as the “Guayabera King.” In 2000, George and Oscar Feldenkreis decided to capitalize on the growth potential and appeal of Latin culture by expanding into a full lifestyle brand—launching Cubavera.
