David Yurman, premiere American jewelry designer, partners with Legacie, The Luxury House of B. Robinson Optical, to launch David Yurman Eyewear. The collection takes its inspiration from Yurman’s jewelry, using such elements as bold colored gems, buckles, cushion-cut stones and cable designs. Premium materials—sterling silver, 18-karat gold, buffalo horn, handmade Italian and Japanese acetate, black onyx, obsidian, tiger’s eye, garnet, white agate and green tourmaline—are used throughout the eyewear line. The women’s collection consists of 11 ophthalmic and 15 sun styles, while the men’s line contains 14 ophthalmics and 10 sunglasses. The color palette was created exclusively by Yurman based on his gemstone colors. The men’s sunglasses are equipped with Zeiss lenses in custom colors and coatings; some styles have polarized lenses. A collection of solid gold frames with pave diamonds is also available.


PHILOSOPHY:
“I don’t want to reinvent eyewear, but I want all the key elements of my jewelry— colors, shapes, the articulation of the hinge—to come to life on the eyeglasses,” David Yurman says. “We went for the best. I asked B. Robinson who had the best finishing facility for eyewear; who’s the best in colored plastic. Robinson knows these things so we can collaborate in a true partnership.”

MARKETING:
Merchandising materials include an eight-place display, counter and tower displays, one-piece presentation tray, jeweler’s presentation pad, image holder, mirror and logo plaque. Frames are packaged in hard cases with cleaning cloths—a polishing cloth is added for frames with sterling silver and polishing cream for frames with natural horn.
