ESSILOR LAUNCHES NEW GENERATION OF OPTIFOG LENSES
Essilor is launching a new and improved version of its Optifog lenses. Patients no longer need a special liquid to activate the anti-fog property on the lenses weekly. Instead, patients will be able to clean and activate Optifog lenses at the same time with the Optifog Activator Cloth.

Optifog lenses include a top layer containing fog repellent properties on both the front and backside of the lens that are activated through the daily use of the Optifog Activator Cloth. Wiping the Optifog lenses with the Optifog Activator Cloth can provide long-lasting protection against fog. Two options of Optifog lenses will be available: Crizal Optifog lenses, which offer complete UV protection on the front and backside of the lens, reduce glare, resist scratches and repel dirt in addition to protection against fog; and TD2 Optifog lenses, which resist scratches and protect against fog.

Essilor is unveiling a redesigned look and experience on optifog.com that is more user-friendly and houses upgraded features such as direct access to the brand’s social media pages and a stream of consumer-focused eye health and brand content from the Essilor newsroom.

ZEISS SUPPORTS SCIENCE EDUCATION AT SAN DIEGO SCHOOL
Carl Zeiss has donated a Zeiss Primo Star microscope to the Albert Einstein Academy, a K-8 public charter school in San Diego, Calif. The donation of the microscope, valued at over $2,000, was made as part of the school’s Day of Innovation celebration, which is organized and supported by the German-American San Diego Foundation.

“Zeiss began as a microscope company,” notes Uli Krauss, CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision North America, which is based in San Diego. “The optical principles we developed for microscopes formed the basis for innovation in many other optical fields, including eyeglasses. As an enabler of scientific research, and as part of the San Diego community, Zeiss is pleased to support the science program at Albert Einstein Academy.”

Stephan Hollmann, PhD, the German Honorary Consul in San Diego and president of the German American San Diego Foundation, adds, “We are grateful for Carl Zeiss’ generous donation of a DV4 Research Microscope to the Albert Einstein Academies Middle School in San Diego. The students can now benefit from the results of more than 160 years of advanced research, innovation and German technology.”
