Licenses, Liaisons & New Collections

MARCOLIN ACQUIRES VIVA
Marcolin SpA, through its affiliate Marcolin USA and HVHC Inc., the holding group for Viva International, has finalized the acquisition of Viva International. The complementing of the brand portfolios, the balance between male/female, optical/sun segments and geographical end-market areas are strategic factors brought to the acquisition.

SÀFILO AND KATE SPADE IN LICENSING AGREEMENT FOR JACK SPADE
Sàfilo Group and Kate Spade jointly announce the signing of a five-year North American eyewear licensing agreement for the design, production and distribution of Jack Spade, and the three-year extension of the current Kate Spade New York international licensing agreement. Both agreements are in effect through Dec. 31, 2018. The Jack Spade men’s sunglass collection will be available in top-tier department stores, sunglass specialty retailers such as Solstice Sunglasses owned by Sàfilo Group and Jack Spade retail stores across the U.S. and Canada beginning February 2014, followed by the rollout of the Jack Spade men’s optical collection, which will be available at select optical retailers throughout North America starting April 2014.

ALLISON UNVEILS LOVE MOSCHINO

Allison adds Love Moschino to its Moschino Eyewear line. Love Moschino is the most feminine of the Moschino labels, representing the creative, intelligent and ironic character of the Moschino brand blended with the ideals of love, passion and friendship. The result is a collection that pays tribute to founder Franco Moschino, who puts symbols such as peace, hearts, polka dots and stripes in all of his creations. Included are five ophthalmic frames and 12 sunglasses.

TOMS OFFERS FIRST OPTICAL COLLECTION

Based on the concept of one-for-one, Toms was founded in 2006 as a shoe company that for each pair of shoes sold provides a free pair of shoes to a child in need. Toms has since expanded into sunglasses and is now launching its first optical collection consisting of 21 styles for men and women. For each optical frame purchased, Toms will help give sight to a person in need, including an eyeglass frame, medical treatment and sight-saving surgery. To avoid competing with local optical businesses, Toms will provide the frame only; local optical shops will provide the lenses. Pictured: Lulu.
