The VisionWeb ophthalmic product ordering service is now integrated with Diversified Ophthalmics’ Practice Maximus optometric management software. With this module, eyecare professionals using the Practice Maximus software can now place orders directly with any of VisionWeb’s lab partners from within their practice management software.
This follows years of collaborative innovation for the two companies. For example, 10 years ago, as one of VisionWeb’s early partners, Diversified was the first to offer ECPs the option to order both soft contact lenses and eyeglass lenses through the VisionWeb portal. “The integration of Practice Maximus with VisionWeb’s ordering portal means our current and future practice management software user base can place orders with their preferred lab right at their fingertips,” says Ronald Cooke, OD, president and chief executive officer of Diversified Ophthalmics. “This, along with our EHR certification, is a very important milestone in our continued effort to meet the growing needs of our customers and their patients.”

SANTINELLI BESTOWS ANNUAL AWARD TO GEORGE WESTINGHOUSE HS SENIOR
George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., recently held an awards ceremony to honor its senior Vision Care Technology students. These students are the recipients of graduation awards from the school’s Optical Council, of which Santinelli International is a member. At the ceremony, Santinelli sales consultant Mark Kaplan bestowed the second annual Santinelli International Award to high school senior Sharon Vieux.
The George Westinghouse Vision Care Program teaches optics, lensometry, pattern making, full frame edging, hand beveling and lens tinting. Students receive training in fabricating single vision and multifocal lenses, surface grinding of prescriptions onto glass and plastic lenses, shaping lenses to fit frames, pattern making, automatic and hand beveling of lenses using various optical instruments, and advanced optical and computer aided machinery.

Mei System, which makes lens finishing equipment for prescription laboratories, has redesigned the content and graphics on its website,
meisystem.com. The updated site now has a number of new features including a company video on the home page, social network links with more information and documents about the Mei System; news regarding new products, exhibitions and events; Mei Club, an area which hosts the video client testimonials; a new area within the product pages that houses video demonstration of Mei’s machines; a productivity calculation system (available only for some machines; user ID and password are required) and a leaflet and technical sheet download; and a new “Services” section with information about technical assistance, service and training.
