PURE EYEWEAR AND LEGACIE JOIN FORCES »  Pure Eyewear and Legacie/The Luxury House of B. Robinson Optical have formed a partnership for the distribution of Pure Eyewear. As of Jan. 1, 2011, Legacie is overseeing all management and distribution for Pure Eyewear. Ira Lerner, the founder of Pure Eyewear, will serve as president of Legacie’s newly formed Pure Eyewear Division. Pure Eyewear is crafted from a single strand of wire threaded through holes in the lenses. There are no screws, hinges or compression mounts. Simplicity is the hallmark of the collection’s design; some styles do not even have nosepads.

NIGURA METZLER SIGNS AGREEMENT FOR ASTON MARTIN EYEWEAR »  The German eyewear company, Nigura Metzler has signed a worldwide licensing agreement for ophthalmic frames and sunglasses with British luxury car maker Aston Martin. The Aston Martin Eyewear launch is planned for June 2011 and will be developed as an exclusive line available through select partners.

SÀFILO RENEWS LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH YVES SAINT LAURENT AND BOTTEGA VENETA »  Sàfilo Group renews its Yves Saint Laurent licensing agreement for the design, production and worldwide distribution of Yves Saint Laurent ophthalmic frames and sunglasses. A member of the Gucci Group, the Yves Saint Laurent agreement is effective until Dec. 31, 2015. In a separate announcement, Sàfilo also reported the renewal of the Bottega Veneta eyewear license. Acquired by the Gucci Group in February 2001, the Bottega Veneta license has been renewed until Dec. 31, 2020, and includes the design, production and worldwide distribution of Bottega Veneta’s eyeglass frames and sunglasses.

»  The sport lifestyle company PUMA has renewed its global licensing agreement with Charmant Group, originally signed in 2006, for sunglasses and ophthalmic frames.

MARCHON3D ISSUED PATENT FOR CURVED 3D LENS
»  Marchon Eyewear has received patent 7,854,506 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office for its curved M3D 3D lenses. The patent is directed to the curved lenses, the assembled frames and the method of manufacturing the curved lenses. Specifically the patent protects the invention of curved lenses configured to decode 3D content.
