MCGEE SIGNS WITH ORVIS The McGee Group has signed an exclusive three-year licensing agreement with Orvis to design, manufacture and distribute ophthalmic frames (pictured), sunglasses and readers  to ECPs, distributors, large optical chains and department stores throughout North America and in many international markets. The Orvis brand is deeply rooted in sporting traditions and is known for its outdoor lifestyle-oriented clothing and accessories, and specifically for rods and gear used in fly fishing. The eyewear collection, which launches in March 2010, will initially consist of designs for men 35+, offer six- and eight- base styles in metal and plastic, and feature Carl Zeiss Vision Polarized Polycarbonate lenses and Polarized Glass lenses. WESCAN TO LAUNCH EVATIK Wescan Optical will launch EVATIK (pictured), an eyewear line dedicated exclusively to today’s urban male, in March 2010. Technologically inspired, the frames are sleek, clean and minimalist. Included are 10 fully rimmed and four semi-rimless styles made predominantly of titanium with some acetate and stainless-steel designs. KBL DEBUTS New York-based KBL makes its debut with KBL Eyewear, a high-fashion lifestyle brand of sunglasses (pictured), taking its design inspiration from vintage guitars of the 1960s and 1970s. The initial collection consists of colorful metal aviators with polycarbonate lenses. A zyl collection is planned for Spring 2010. EYES OF FAITH ANNOUNCES ITS MISSION Pennsylvania-based Eyes of Faith Optical, founded by Jim and Amy Schneider, unveils plans for a purpose-driven eyewear company that will give back 10 percent of gross sales each year to a reputable Christian children’s charitable organization. The line, which is ophthalmic, will be launched in 2010 and distributed exclusively through eyecare professionals. UNILENS INTROS MONTHLY DISPOSABLES Unilens Vision launches the all new monthly C-VUE Advanced Toric Multifocal contact lens targeted to astigmatic presbyopes. The lenses will be sold directly to independent eyecare professionals and will allow complete customization, including the capability to specify ADD powers and zone size.
