CXD: Boss Woman
Following on the success of Hugo Boss women’s wear, Boss Hugo Boss introduces Boss Woman, an eyewear collection from CXD, a Charmant Exclusive Division. Targeted to the Boss woman, a successful cosmopolitan individual with a lifestyle that merges business and sports, sensuality and self-assurance, the new line consists of 11 ophthalmic frames and 10 sunglasses. Shapes are fashion-forward variations on bowties, butterflies, ovals, rectangles and oversize wrap and goggle styles in both plastic and metal, including titanium. Some frames are rimless or semi-rimless and feature such design details as dropped temples and lenses floating on top of the frame. Hues range from metal and earth tones to multi-colored layered plastics. Lenses are offered in sun and fashion tints, some with gradient and flash mirror treatments.

PHILOSOPHY: “Another on-target creation and collaboration with Boss Hugo Boss, the Boss Woman eyewear collection is a natural extension of the successful Hugo Boss women’s clothing line,” says Jim Simon, CXD vice president. PRESENTATION: Updated merchandising materials including a display and countercards will be available. Each style comes with a black hard case.

Rodenstock: Progressiv Life XS
Rodenstock North America introduces Rodenstock Progressiv life XS, a progressive addition lens offering optimum vision with a corridor 25 percent shorter than conventional progressives, according to the company. Features include the following: Full add power 12mm below the fitting cross; frame selection not limited by the conventional 18mm progressive corridor; 20 percent less head movement for reading or close work; fully aspheric design; precise placement of the progressive corridor; optimized field of view; large distance zone and low-distortion surface design for immediate adaptation and long-term compatibility; horizontal and vertical symmetry; and accurate and precise acuity in all viewing areas. Progressiv life XS is available in a 70/75mm diameter with a power range of –10.00D to +6.00D and an add range of 0.75D to 3.00D. The lens has a scratch-resistant coating, provides full UV protection and is compatible with all tints and coatings. It’s initially offered in 1.50-index plastic. ColorMatic Extra 1.52-index and 1.60-index materials are planned for early this year.

PHILOSOPHY: “Unlike some other smaller-design lenses that are merely truncated versions of standard progressives, the Progressiv life XS is designed specifically to fit smaller frames and still maintain a 16mm minimum fitting height,” says Dave Delle Donne, vice president Roden-stock North America Lens Division. Silhouette Optical: Elegance Collection
Silhouette Optical introduces Elegance, a collection of three-piece mount styles, including six designs for women and three for men. The frames are metal with chromium-, gold- or rhodium-plating. The women’s shapes—almonds, cat eyes, upswept ovals and rectangles—have sweet-water, cultured pearl endpiece accents. The men’s styles are variations on rectangles and feature an innovative screwless hinge design consisting of two discs that hold the temple in place.

PHILOSOPHY: “With this new collection Silhouette has redefined the world of Elegance in regard to men’s and women’s frames. The emphasis is on sophisticated, delicate lines and beautiful, refined details, such as the use of elegant pearl accents in the women’s collection,” says Silhouette president Arnold Schmied. PRESENTATION: A six-place presentation kit and dispensing mat are available with a six-piece purchase. Frames come with a mounting box containing glazing instructions, drills, drill patterns, adhesive tapes and BLS mounting aids. Each frame comes with a case.
