Safilo Group and the Celine brand have signed a multiyear licensing agreement for the production and worldwide distribution of Céline eyewear. Designed for sophisticated, modern women, the collection will be available as of January 2012 in Céline boutiques and selected retail outlets worldwide.
B. ROBINSON ENTERS AGREEMENT WITH ISAAC MIZRAHI
B. Robinson has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Xcel Brands, Inc. for the manufacture and distribution of eyewear and sunwear for the Isaac Mizrahi and Isaac Mizrahi New York brands. The Isaac Mizrahi collections will be available at retail in Fall 2012.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER BY MIKLI DEBUTS
Alain Mikli International launches Jean Paul Gaultier by Mikli eyewear. The creation of two longtime friends, the collection launches in the U.S. this month and consists of 12 ophthalmic frames and eight sunglasses. The styles are offered in varying shades of black, brown/tortoise and ivory with no exterior logo.
TURA AND TED BAKER RENEW LICENSE
Tura and Ted Baker, the U.K.-based clothing designer, have finalized a long-term renewal of their licensing agreement for the design, production and marketing of Ted Baker’s ophthalmic and sunwear collections in North America. Tura has held the license since 2004.
MODO’S ECO AND SUMMER RAYNE OAKES PARTNERS
Modo and model Summer Rayne Oakes have created a sustainable collection of ophthalmic frames and sunglasses under Modo’s Eco brand. The collection offers design-forward frames made from recycled plastic and hypoallergenic/nontoxic stainless steel. The eyeglass case is made of RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate—recycled soda bottles). The packaging itself is constructed from recycled paper and printed with soy ink. Pictured: ESRO 3003.
EYEBOBS TEAMS WITH IRIS APFEL
Style icon Iris Apfel, known for her signature, oversized, round glasses, joins forces with Minneapolis, Minn.-based Eyebobs, a reading glass company founded in 2001, to create an exclusive eyewear collection. The collaboration launches in January 2012 with a special, limited edition Iris frame, which will be available as both a reader and a polarized sunglass (pictured). Proceeds from the sale of this frame will benefit Lighthouse International. In January 2013 Eyebobs by Iris Apfel, a line of readers, sun readers and polarized sunglasses, will debut and be sold in specialty stores, optical shops and online at
