Sàfilo USA introduces its new spring hinge, Elasta Forte, designed exclusively for the North American market. Using its history of bestselling spring hinges, Sàfilo has set new standards creating an even stronger, precision-based piece. Elasta 1, the company’s original spring hinge, which launched in 1972, used a spring-hinge mechanism to create an innovative and extraordinary combination of comfort and durability. The Elasta 2 followed in 1980, featuring a general size reduction, including a lower number of elastic mechanism internal components and distinct engineering housing the mechanism. From that point, Sàfilo has continuously introduced mechanisms, increasingly more minimalist in design. The new Elasta Forte is a double-spring mechanism based on an adjustable five-barrel interlocking concept created to accommodate the ever-growing trend toward wider temples. The technology allows the Elasta Forte to compress in an open position and expand in a closed one, letting it resist immense amounts of stress. The Elasta Forte collection consists of four men’s styles—two metals and two metal/plastic combinations.
“As a leader in the eyewear industry, Sàfilo is extremely excited about bringing this innovative technology to the optical market,” says Dick Russo, Sàfilo USA executive vice president. “This new hinge delivers strength and durability, giving these styles the longevity our customers demand. We expect the Elasta Forte hinge will garner the same success as the portfolio of Elasta springs hinges that precede it.”
