What do actor Billy Zane and N’SYNC-ster Lance Bass have in common with 20/20’s own Gloria Nicola? Well, on a serious note, all three are honorary board members of Sama Eyewear’s Sam Vance Foundation. A primary reason for Shiela Vance establishing Sama was to develop a way to generate funding that enables young adults to overcome narcotics dependencies and re-discover a life without drugs. Shiela tragically lost her 19-year-old son Sam to heroin.

From time to time the foundation awards board memberships to people contributing in a unique manner via special talents. Sama felt Gloria did exactly that with her insightful Artist of the Frame feature on Shiela. The 20/20 story generated considerable interest and awareness of the foundation’s goals. We wish the foundation continued success and congratulate Gloria on her honored new position.

glaucoma project enlists glenn 

Senator John Glenn will play a key role in the newly re-designed EyeCare America Glaucoma Project, a program of the Foundation of the American Academy Ophthalmology.

Glenn is featured in a series of public service announcements highlighting the program’s mission: Promoting awareness and early detection. The senator and former astronaut explains to Americans because he was diagnosed early and received proper treatment, he continues to lead a full life, a life that included a second space flight in 1998 on the Space Shuttle Discovery.

The re-designed Glaucoma Project not only encourages early detection and treatment of glaucoma, but it also provides access to care for qualified individuals at increased risk.

Singer 8 Lenny Kravitz wore Fendi Sun 223 from Marchon on both his new CD “Lenny” and the December 2001 issue of Vibe… Backdraft. R&B diva 9 Mary J.
