A preteen, I was certainly way too young for the nuances of the film “Divorce Italian Style,” but Bob Dylan and The Byrds weren’t quite available yet so circa 1961 Marcello Mastroianni was a role model for me of sorts. That said, I LOVED his sunglasses but had no idea he was wearing Persol style 649. Years later I discovered the identity of the brand and even revisited the original film “Divorzio all’italiana” still admiring Marcello’s choice in sun specs. I’m STILL a Persol fan, ever appreciative of that signature Meflecto flex temple design and always aware of anyone wearing eyewear with that distinctive “arrow” hinge embellishment. Persol: Established 1917. My Persol spec addition: Established 1961 on the face of a man named Marcello.

Joey Logano scores the cover of 20/20’s September 15 Seller’s Guide with a multi-page inside feature detailing his branding allegiance with Wiley X. We’re proud of that early connection since Joey scored BIG TIME with a recent win at the Daytona 500, still sporting his Wiley X shades. Our cover depicted him in the Wiley X Lantern. He has since switched teams, cars and main sponsors but his specs loyalty remains the same. We knew we picked a winner! And so did he. Congrats to Logano AND Wiley X.  —JJS
