Return with us to those heroic motorsport days (late ‘50s to mid ‘60s) when beautiful-yet-beastly sport cars expelled excess motor heat out through side venting just aft of the front well wheel. Notables would include Ferrari GTO 250s, Mercedes 300 SLRs, 427 Cobras and Grand Sport Corvettes. That side venting has long been equated with the temple detail of Persol frames with its ingenious Meflecto hinge. Appropriate considering Persol’s equally impressive origins as protective goggles in auto racing. That noted, check out the triple cut action on this new Roadster Edition Persol just aft of its legendary arrow detail and juxtaposed on the venting of one of those road warriors.

Here’s an idea well worth exploring again. The Head Sportsmaster from ClearVision Optical featured a retractable cable temple giving it added “head” stability for sport wearers. Cable temples are experiencing a slight surge in popularity and this solution would certainly add nifty, tech duality.
