The Buddy frame (top) and the Sophia (bottom) from the Metropolitan collection from Mykita.
BERLIN--Mykita has introduced the Metropolitan collection, a new line of metal oversized corrective frames within the umbrella of their Collection No.1. Designed with the hip city dweller in mind, this Rx-able collection takes cues from eyeglass wearers in the public eye, as well as the trend to use sunglasses frames for prescriptive eyewear. First up is Terry, named after the ‘enfant terrible’ photographer Terry Richardson, an expressive aviator style for a self-confident fashion conscious wearer. Terry is coupled with Sophia, named after the actress and archetypal “Prima Donna” Sophia Loren, which was Mykita’s ‘must have’ offering for the Cannes film festival. Both styles are available in a silver or gold etched plaid-patterned metal surface and also come in photochromic options.

Also new is the Woody, named after Woody Allen, an oversize ‘80s panto style and the intellectual’s evergreen shape, and the Tenzin, the actual first name of the Dalai Lama. The last two frames in the collection are the Buddy and the Nana, the inspiration of which Mykita is keeping under wraps.

The Metropolitan collection from Mykita is priced to the dispenser between $163 and $189.
