PARIS--StudioMikli has released a new collection from two of its designers, Vanessa di Giovani and Mehdi Gaurat, called Vanessa & Mehdi.

Vanessa di Giovani and Mehdi Gaurat joined Alain Mikli’s design team in 2003 and the launch of this collection signifies their first eyeglass line as part of StudioMikli.

After studying international trade and marketing in Annecy, France, Di Giovani entered the lens-manufacturing industry before becoming an eyewear product manager with an eye towards design.

Gaurat earned a degree in graphic design at the Arts Appliques in Lyon, France, and became an eyewear designer in 1991. He has worked for different companies specializing in eyewear before designing for StudioMikli.

The idea behind their collection is based on blending the frame with the face while overcoming the defects of facial asymmetry. They designed their collection featuring a technology that enables a “custom-made” fit to compensate for these defects by correcting the tilt of the temples and frame front. The technically innovative frame is inspired by exoskeletons and features volume-worked temples with unexpected, futuristic lines in colors like cherry crystal, anthracite with glossy black, brushed titanium, raspberry, a sateen-like sand finish or frosty pearl grey.

The Vanessa & Mehdi collection from StudioMikli is priced to the dispenser between $131 and $205.
