Fusion Eyewear takes a page from the ’60s with its new FriezeFrames Jackie Collection. Inspired by the sophisticated, graceful look of Jacqueline Kennedy in the 1950s and ’60s, the collection features ophthalmic and sun styles hand-decorated with Swarovski crystals and available in retro colors. The 15 styles for women are targeted to adults who want to “sparkle with sophistication” and feature shapes such as the traditional rounded Jackie O, cat eyes and ovals. Colors range from black and purple to berry red, lime green and orange. Two men’s styles offer a fashion that is “retro yet refined” in rectangular shapes with subtle sparkles and colors such as black, tortoise and blue-black.

PHILOSOPHY: “The Jackie collection brings a fresh, hip look to a very retro style,” says Alan Weisfeld, Fusion CEO. “The runways for Spring ’08 were flooded with the beautiful greens, purples and reds from the ’60s. This collection reflects exactly what our fashion-forward customer is all about. It’s elegant and funky at the same time and fits perfectly into the Fusion philosophy of always being on the edge.”

MARKETING: POP materials include Lucite nameplates and pocket-sized catalogues. All frames come in a moss green raw silk bag.

TIP
To promote sales of retro frame shapes, keep pictures of celebrities from the time period—wearing eyewear, of course—on the walls near the display. Also suggest customers try on cat-eye shapes—the upsweep can create an instant face-lift effect.
