ELKINS PARK, Pa.—Optometry Giving Sight will launch its 2008 World Sight Day Challenge at a special event, featuring a star of one of Broadway’s hit shows on Friday, April 11 at Vision Expo East.

All Vision Expo East attendees who sign up for the World Sight Day Challenge will be invited to the launch. The surprise guest will sing a song from her Broadway show and perform a duet with her father, Russ Osnes, a well-known optometrist from Minnesota. All attendees at the launch will be entered into a drawing for front-row tickets to see Laura performing the lead role in “Grease” on Broadway on Saturday April 12.

The World Sight Day Challenge invites all optometrists to donate their eye exam fees on World Sight Day (October 9, 2008) and / or to sign up to a regular monthly personal or practice donation to Optometry Giving Sight on Saturday, April 12.

The World Sight Day Challenge aims to raise funds for projects which provide access to services, training of local people and infrastructure development in developing countries where 90 percent of preventable blindness occurs.
