BEAVERTON, Ore.--PRIO Corporation has expanded its near variable focus (NVF) lenses to accommodate patients who need higher reading or computer add powers. The PRIO Computer Lens (PCL) is now available in a 2.25 D power shift version.

"The new 2.25D lens is a great addition to the PCL line, giving patients with higher computer and reading adds the same visual benefits enjoyed by younger patients," said Jon Torrey, president of PRIO. "We've received great feedback already from the first patients to wear these lenses."

The PCL 2.25D is available in CR-39 in sphere powers from -3.00 D to +6.00 D, and in cylinder powers to -4.00 D. Approximately 150 wholesale labs nationwide carry PRIO's PCL and Browser lenses.

PRIO has also released Shazam! 4.5, the latest version of its calculating software, which gives ECPs ordering near variable focus (NVF) lenses for computer users access to the additional lens offering. The company originally developed the Shazam! Lens Calculator as a quick and easy way to take the mystery out of calculating the correct power to order, and determining the best NVF lens for a computer-using patient.

The updated software includes the following new features: expanded range of power shifts available, targeting computer patients with moderate to advanced presbyopia; will run on any computer platform (Windows, Mac, Linux) and with any Web browser; access through the PRIO Website (www.prio.com) to calculate Rxs; and ECPs can download the software to run locally on their own computers.
