CHICAGO--Lois Joan Winjum, former vice president and director of finance for Midwest Labs, passed away on Dec. 17 at 64.

Along with her husband Jack, Winjum started Midwest Labs in 1973 and was active in the business for all of the years of their ownership. Since Novamed purchased the business in 1999, Jack has continued to work with the company on a consultant basis. The Winjums have four sons: Stephen, the current chief executive officer of Novamed, Douglas, Gregory and Joseph.
Midwest Labs has locations in Indianola, Iowa and Chicago.
Winjum held a nursing degree from Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, S.D., and won the Gena Haug Award for outstanding beside nursing student.
