COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.--Services with full military honors were held recently for Sgt. Paul D. Karpowich of Bridgeport, Pa., who died Dec. 21, 2004, in Mosul, Iraq, after a bombing attack on the mess tent which killed 20 soldiers and injured dozens of others.

Karpowich was regional sales manager and a designer for Eye Designs, a national design and store planning firm for the ophthalmic industry, based here.

In a statement, Eye Designs said, "Paul was, first and foremost, our beloved friend. He was a member of our office family for the past five years. Paul was a smart, ambitious and dedicated person. During his time with us, he excelled as a Regional Sales Manager for Eye Designs. Paul had a deep love and commitment to his family, friends and country. He will always be remembered and always be a part of our family."

Surviving Karpowich are his wife, the former Amanda Gadola; father Richard Karpowich and wife Claire, Freeland; mother Jacquelyn Getz and husband Barry, Hazleton, brothers two sisters, several nieces and nephews.
