NEW YORK--In keeping with its tradition of advancing the optometric profession, the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA) in cooperation with International Vision Expo introduced several professional development benefits on behalf of NYSOA members at the International Vision Expo East Conference and Exhibition. The International Vision Expo/NYSOA partnership endorsement, now in its third year, gives NYSOA members access to International Vision Expo's newly enhanced educational sessions.

NYSOA will present a 2005 seminar of its three-hour course, Medical Coding: What Every Doctor Needs to Know, which will address new concepts in coding and prepare doctors for changes in 2005, including an update on HIPAA rules and third-party managed care The Coding-HIPAA Annual Update session will be offered Fri., March 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 17. Cost is $25 for NYSOA members and $50 for non-members.

In addition to NYSOA's educational session, this year's International Vision Expo East conference will provide NYSOA members with access to over 180 new courses ranging from the future of visioncare technology and medical optometric practice advancements to business immersion and sales and business management strategies. Some new conference features for NYSOA members include new advances in glaucoma treatment, coursework in infant and pediatric vision, new contact lens practice treatments, a six-hour program focusing on low vision, updates on cataracts, interactive EyeMax Theatre presentations and a Sharpen Your Vision:  Insight from Top Style Experts panel, addressing the latest in eyewear fashion.
