NEW YORK--Alain Mikli will introduce the Pact collection of limited-edition black-and-crystal eyewear at Vision Expo East next month.

"I like the word 'traditional,' there's some secret to it. The acetate we use is handmade just like my frames. When the acetate is carved, we load it with emotion," said designer Alain Mikli, adding that ECPs must buy the entire collection. "It's time to buy the full set--not one style. Buying a collection is like shopping--women buy an entire look. Pact only makes a statement with at least 40 pieces."

The collection plays with the harmony of shadow and light, which changes according to how the light hits it. The unique acetate material took a year to develop and is available in limited quantities. There are 30 ophthalmic styles and 10 sunwear models, each offered in three of 10 patterns or as Mikli calls them "encounters." Styles include semi-rimless nylor and acetate frames as well as full rim acetates.

With Pact, Alain Mikli offers a limited-edition collection that plays with light and shadow.

The collection will be presented to a select group of retailers at specially organized concept presentations. Each frame is signed "Pact" and comes in a black case with a vibrant red lining and a black-and-white shopping bag. The POP includes an eight-piece window display, clear-and-black logo plaques, banners and a coffee table book that features the black-and-white pictures of models wearing the Pact collection.

The frames are priced to the dispenser at $150.
