AUSTIN.--VisionWeb, the online service, and Optical Software, a leading software provider for the eyecare industry and developer of OMICS laboratory management software, said they have completed the integration between VisionWeb and OMICS lab management software.

"We are very happy to be able to provide our members with access to additional labs to make the ordering of their products more convenient," said Mike O'Malley, vice president of business development for VisionWeb.

OMICS lab management software supports more than 200 labs within North America and an increasing number outside the U.S. With this integration, customers can place electronic orders via the internet to labs running OMICS V6.0 software. Each order is automatically received and placed into processing by the labs OMICS system, virtually eliminating delays associated with traditional ordering methods. Customers will also be able to track the status of their orders online, 24/7.

"With the integration of VisionWeb and OMICS, our lab customers are able to connect to VisionWeb for smoother order processing, saving them time and money," commented Jodi Nickerson of Moncton, NB Canada-based Optical Software.

Southwest Lens, in Dallas is the first OMICS lab to be electronically accessible through VisionWeb. Next up will be Robertson Optical Laboratories locations in Greenville and Columbia, S.C. Additional labs running OMICS software will follow in the near future.

Optical Software also plans to incorporate the VisionWeb O.N.E. (Open Network Exchange) process in OMICS to handle order outsourcing between labs. Development is already under way with an anticipated release to OMICS labs later this year.
