PLAINVIEW, N.Y.--Davis Vision, a Highmark subsidiary, has announced that each of its four managed care ophthalmic fabrication laboratories is now ISO 9001:2000 certified.

The ISO 9001:2000 certification gives each lab an international standard for Quality Management Systems set forth by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is recognized globally as the guideline for establishing and maintaining an effective industrial quality control program.

Davis Vision joins other companies throughout the country that have sought and received certification by demonstrating the ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

This is accomplished through the development and continuous improvement of defined processes and standards to the satisfaction of an independent third party auditor. An audit team at Davis Vision thoroughly examined the company's business processes, data and records, interviewed employees and monitored the work in process at the four labs, which are located in Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Memphis and Plainview, N.Y.
