NEW YORK--The Vision Expo team is supporting several charities this year with prizes for participating showgoers.

From March 11 through 13, visit Booth 3786 and make a donation to any or all of the following charities: New York City Fire Department; Prevent Blindness America, and Support Our Troops Overseas. All proceeds will be divided equally among the three charities at the end of the show.

According to Valerie Scott, strategic account director for International Vision Expos, it all began with an idea to send a gift to one soldier who is serving overseas in Iraq.

"The idea was so overwhelmingly received by the entire Vision team that a few exhibitors even joined in and donated frames and T-shirts. From one gift, we  actually sent eight huge boxes to the entire troop. With this goodwill feeling still fresh in mind, we decided to involve more people... and with more people we could give more to more people in need," she said.

Participants can also sign their names on a giant card that will be mailed to troops overseas, and will have the opportunity to make a foul shot or sink a putt for the chance to win a prize. If the participant scores, they will a prize.  These prizes include six hours of free Continuing Education, spa visits, movie tickets and more. A surprise grand prize will be awarded on the last day of the show.

The booth will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is open to everyone. For more information, contact Scott at (203) 840-383. orporate donations are welcomed.
