GARLAND, Texas--DAC Vision has introduced the PAL Marker, an automated solution to marking progressive-addition lenses. Because PAL markings are often removed accidentally by surface-saver tape, or intentionally during coating processes, remarking is often necessary. An all-electric programmable printer can work simultaneously on two lenses, and a camera with a backlighting system helps locate and project "invisible" PAL markings for precision alignment. A hold-down feature also helps maintain alignment during printing.

The PAL Marker from DAC Vision gives labs an affordable way to automate marking of PALs.

Because no wipe-down is needed between jobs, PALs can be marked continuously. The machine's ink cups and printing plates are easily accessible for changes, and helps avoid spills. A quick-change feature allows easy changing between layout patterns. Additional manufacturers' designs or custom patterns are available as needed.

DAC Vision president Richard Bullwinkle noted, "DAC Vision is proud to introduce an affordable system for efficiently applying or re-applying PAL layout markings on the front side of PAL lenses in the laboratory. It is engineered to be simple to operate and maintain and comes with a full one-year manufacturer's warranty."

The machine also features a 15-inch split-screen LCD monitor that allows the operator to mount both left and right lenses in one step. Single right or left lenses can also be marked separately as needed. A magnified alignment of reference marks on the screen allows for accurate positioning of lenses for marking.
