SAN MARCOS, Calif.--Signet Armorlite (SA) is introducing Kodak CleAR Anti-Reflective Coating, an easy to clean lens coating that resists oily smudges and dirt.

SA described Kodak CleAR Coating as a multi-layer, premium stack applied using vacuum deposition process topped off with a super hydrophobic/ oleophobic layer. A special formulation and process designed into the adhesion layer insures durability over the life of the prescription.
"Durability is critical to patient satisfaction and Kodak CleAR Coating meets the challenge," said Jan Kubiak, SA marketing manager. "Adhesion and scratch protection are insured by continuous testing to exceed the ISO recommended standards."
The coating eliminates distracting reflections, and enhances vision by allowing 99 percent of available light to reach the eye, according to Kubiak.

According to company executives, Kodak CleAR Coating is compatible with most manufacturers' lenses and specifically designed to enhance the visual performance of Kodak Precise and Concise progressives. "Our new Kodak InstaShades photochromic lenses are as clear as all other brands and keeps returning to clear longer than other brands," remarked Ed DeRosa, North American sales vice president. "But when the Kodak CleAR Coating is applied to Kodak InstaShades lenses, they are virtually invisible indoors. Our PolarShades lenses eliminate blinding glare for patients, but an application of the Kodak CleAR Coating also reduces reflections off the back of the lenses."
Kodak CleAR Coating is backed by a two-year 100 percent patient satisfaction warranty.
