PARIS--Meima launches in the U.S. with elegant handmade frames made in France.

The Meima brand focuses on ophthalmic styles that offer volume, comfort and elegance.

The Meima customer is the optician looking for traditional P3, rounds, elegant rectangular and cateye frames for their audience. Meima likes to work with volume--using 8mm thick acetate materials and 3mm thick titanium sheets. The designer's focuses are on volume, comfort and elegance.

"Today I am focusing on optical frames, due to the fact that the sunglass market is saturated and under the influence of fashion companies imposing their identities, marketing and sales power," said designer Anthony Meima.

The collection includes 26 Mazzuchelli acetate styles and two titanium frames. There are four sunglasses each with CR39 lenses. The color palate for the acetate frames includes chocolate, black, light tortoise, green and purple, while the titanium frames are available in shiny chocolate, gun, grey and dark red.

The frames are priced to the dispenser from $83 to $86 for acetate and $94 to $100 for custom acetate frames with crystal. The titanium frames are $140. --Caletha Crawford
