LARGO, Fla.—Contact lens manufacturer Unilens Vision (OTC BB: UVICF.BB) had increases in both net sales and net income in its second quarter ended Dec. 31.

Net sales for the period rose 5.2 percent, to $1.5 million. Net income was $375,915 in Q2, a 70.2 percent increase. The company attributed the sales increase in the period primarily to growth in sales of its C-Vue multifocal contact lenses, which increased by approximately 12 percent in Q2, “partially offset by sales of [its] replacement products lines that declined as expected,” a Unilens announcement said.

In the first six months of the company’s current fiscal year, sales were $3.2 million, up 4.7 percent. Net income in the half rose 41.8 percent, to $753,211.

“We are pleased with our second quarter operating results, and based on currently available information, we anticipate a continuation of favorable revenue and profitability trends for the second half of the 2008 fiscal year,” said Michael Pecora, chief executive officer of Unilens Vision.
