DRAPER, Utah--1-800 Contacts (Nasdaq: CTAC) posted net income of $269,000 in its second quarter ended July 2, compared to a net loss of $1.1 million in last year’s Q2.

Net sales in the quarter were $61.8 million, up 24 percent. The company’s U.S. net sales were $56.8 million, vs. $48.7 million in the second quarter of 2004.

For the first six months of this year, 1-800 Contacts had net income of $452,000, vs. a net loss of $3.35 million in last year’s first half.

Net sales for the period were $122.1 million, up from $100.8 million in 2004’s first six months. U.S. retail sales reached $113.1 million, vs. $98.2 million the prior year.

The company anticipates total 2005 U.S. retail sales of $225 million, an announcement said.
