PARIS--Louis Vuitton will launch its first permanent line of sunwear. The collection, which has been in development for two years, is being produced by the company. The collection launches in November 2005 and will be available exclusively in Louis Vuitton stores.

The 12-piece line, which was designed by Louis Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs, was inspired by Film Noir. Signature elements of the brand appear throughout the collection such as the LV monogram, a take on the S-lock and the monogram flower. The collection also features a specially designed Zeiss lens named LV Landscape Vision.

“The approach to doing sunglasses was no different than the approach to making a jacket or a handbag--the attention to the details, detail that came from actual existing things within Vuitton’s world, like the hinges, the brown and gold of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram and the pattern of the Damier,” Jacobs said.
