Among the various forms of vision correction that patients can choose, contact lens wear is up strongly in 2005.

Oftentimes, consumers will use both eyeglasses and contact lenses, just as they often use both eyeglasses and sunglasses.

Nevertheless, contact lenses are now chosen by 18 percent of those adults over the age of 18. And while their usage is strongest among consumers of ages 18-34, there is still significant usage of contact lenses among adults ages 45-54 - in fact this group saw contact lens usage increase to nearly 15 percent (some or all of the time) in the 12 months ending June 2005, according to VisionWatch, a study conducted by Jobson/VCA.
