A popular New Jersey venue has gotten a name change. Phillips-Van Heusen and its licensee ClearVision Optical, the distributor for optical quality Izod Eyes frames and sunglasses, recently announced that the Continental Airlines Arena, located at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. was renamed the Izod Center.

The Izod Center is home to the NBA’s New Jersey Nets as well as the host of hundreds of different events including musical concerts and family entertainment performances. Through the arena’s renaming, Izod will strengthen its image as a sports-inspired lifestyle brand that appeals to a broad consumer base of men, women and children. The Izod brand will continue to be supported in a full complement of national broadcast, print, cinema and outdoor media campaigns, as well as on-going sponsorships of the New York Mets, The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers and the lifeguard corps for Los Angeles County, Miami Beach and the Walt Disney World resorts and water parks.

Known for its best-selling apparel, eyewear and accessories collections, Izod has immediate marketplace recognition as a sports-inspired brand with clean designs and modern, colorful details. Izod is owned and marketed through its parent corporation of Phillips-Van Heusen (PVH).

“The Izod brand has a premier sports image in the marketplace, which is a result of PVH’s outstanding marketing efforts,” says ClearVision Optical’s, executive vice-president, Peter Friedfeld. “I am very proud that our optical quality Izod eyewear will share in this brand’s journey of going to the next level.”
