DUBAI--Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), organizer of Vision-X Dubai, the optical show and education conference to be held here March 6-8, 2007, reports that the 2007 event is expected to be 30 percent bigger than the previous show in 2006.

To be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center here, the expansion of the eighth annual event underscores “the surge in demand and increasing recognition of the high-worth of the Middle East market for ophthalmic and optical products and services,” a spokesperson for DWTC said, adding that exhibitors are deciding to double or even quadruple their stand space. Rodenstock is the Platinum Sponsor of the event which will also see a record size Germany pavilion and first-time participation from companies from Spain, Croatia and Czech Republic.

The show will offer a range of products from designer frames and fashion sunglasses to optical lenses, accessories, tools, machinery, ophthalmic and surgical instruments, lens processing equipment and sports and safety eyewear.

Helal Saeed Al Marri, director general of DWTC, said, “The strong support received from the broad range of companies and health care organizations for Vision-X Dubai has further affirmed the event’s position as the leading ophthalmic and optical platform for the region.”

The Vision-X Dubai Conference, a two-day educational program targeting the needs of both ophthalmologists and optometrists, coincides with the trade fair and will be held on March 7-8.

It is being organized by Emirates Medical Association Ophthalmic Society (EMAOS) and sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. The educational conference will address a wide spectrum of topics, ranging from the basics of refraction to eye disease. There will also be a dedicated refractive surgery sub-specialty session to address issues concerning LASIK technology. Attending professionals will be issued a Certificate of Continuing Medical Education.

“Vision-X Dubai has grown from strength to strength and has established itself as a leading business event that understands and addresses the full spectrum needs of the optical industry, from medical advancements to cutting-edge fashion,” Al Marri added.
