SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn.--In a 10Q SEC filing released March 8, Gerber Scientific [NYSE: GRB], based here, reported revenue of $137,124 million for the quarter ended Jan. 31, 2007, an increase from $124,612 million the same period last year. For the nine-month period, the company posted revenue of $419,661 million, up from $387,337 million in 2006.

The Gerber Coburn ophthalmic lens processing unit reported revenue of $18,027 million for the quarter versus $17,830 million year-ago, a 1.1 percent increase.

Segment operating profit was $501,000 for the quarter versus $329,000 for the same period last year. On a nine-month basis, operating profit totaled $1,142 million versus $317,000 in 2006.

For the nine-month period, Gerber Coburn posted revenue of $56,243 million versus $52,717 year-ago. Segment revenue increased $3.5 million, or 6.7 percent, for the nine months ended Jan. 31, 2007 as compared with the nine months ended Jan. 31, 2006.

Segment operating profit increased $0.2 million and increased $0.8 million for the third quarter and first nine months of fiscal 2007, respectively, as compared with the same periods in the prior year.

The increase in the third quarter of fiscal 2007 was related to improved gross profit associated with favorable product mix and pricing as well as overall lower operating expenses. Included in the results for the first nine months of fiscal 2006 was the elimination of a $0.5 million reserve related to the Muskogee, Oklahoma facility, as that facility was sold during fiscal 2006.
