DULUTH, Ga.—The CIBA Vision Academy for Eyecare Excellence said that the 2010 edition of Key Metrics of Optometric Practice is now available to eyecare practitioners. The publication is a comprehensive look at independent optometric practice performance benchmarks. It reveals norms for key productivity measures and enables optometrists to compare their practice performance to norms for similar size practices.

Key metrics include: gross revenue per complete exam, exam fees, frames turnover, gross revenue per OD hour, expense ratio ranges by category and staff hourly and annual salaries by position.

Key Metrics of Optometric Practice is published by the Management and Business Academy (MBA), created by CIBA Vision and Essilor, to provide education resources to independent ECPs about the business management side of private practice. The MBA faculty develops all of the materials and tools used in the MBA program, and MBA conducts by-invitation-only seminars and an on-going research program to establish practice productivity benchmarks. MBA sponsors a website that is a repository of information and tools useful in staff management that is accessible to all practitioners and MBA publishes MBA Insights, a quarterly journal.

The Academy for Eyecare Excellence was created by CIBA Vision to provide eyecare professionals in the U.S. access to advanced clinical, business and management strategies and techniques to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
