PLEASANTON, Calif.—The Cooper Companies announced that its Cooper Vision (CVI) contact-lens division’s revenues in the company’s third quarter ended July 31 reached $249 million, 3 percent over the same period in the previous fiscal year (and up 6 percent at constant currency rates).

CooperVision’s sales in the Americas rose 6 percent (up 7 percent at constant currency rates) in Q3, to $112.4 million. Sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa were $89.6 million, down 1 percent (but up 10 percent at constant currency rates), while sales in the Asia Pacific region rose 5 percent (but dropped 2 percent at constant currency rates) to $47 million.

Said Robert Weiss, the Cooper Companies’ president and chief executive officer, “We gained market share within CVI [and] posted strong margins in CVI.”

For the full 2010 fiscal year, the Cooper Companies is now projecting that CooperVision’s revenues will fall in the $952 million to $962 million range.
