LONGARONE, Italy—The Marcolin Group (MCL-IT) and Swarovski have announced the signing of a five-year renewable licensing agreement for the production and worldwide distribution of sunglasses and prescription frames under the Swarovski brand name.

“Swarovski stands for the highest quality cut crystal all over the world and today is of incredible inspiration for designers in fashion, jewelry, accessories and even interior design,” said Maurizio Marcolin, style & licensing officer for Marcolin. “Swarovski Eyewear will be a unique expression of innovation in a contemporary luxury product.”

The launch of the first sunglasses collection is planned for Spring/Summer 2011 and will be followed by the introduction of prescription frames. According to Marcolin, the Swarovski Eyewear collection will be positioned in the high-end segment and be selectively distributed through high-end specialist opticians, department stores and sunglasses stores worldwide, as well as selected Swarovski boutiques.

“This agreement honors the philosophy of our founder, Daniel Swarovski I, a man who set our company on the path of constantly mastering new market opportunities,” added Markus Langes-Swarovski, a member of the Swarovski executive board. Swarovski had previously licensed their eyewear collection with Linz, Austria-based Silhouette.
