SAN DIEGO—Shamir Insight is releasing an expanded and updated line of PolyPlus polycarbonate lenses that are compatible with a range of AR products. PolyPlus material is manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility utilizing the latest energy-saving production technologies and highest quality control, according to Shamir. The lightweight, impact resistant material, which is birefringence-free and “water white” clear, received high marks in the Bayer abrasion test, the company reported.

As part of the roll-out, Shamir is reintroducing its Office and Piccolo polycarbonate offerings in PolyPlus (Hard Coat – HC) material. The lens maker said it switched these products to PolyPlus in response to AR coating issues with the standard polycarbonate material. Shamir offers the Office and Piccolo PolyPlus (HC) in the same base curves previously available in polycarbonate.

Shamir offers single-vision PolyPlus Transitions in gray and brown. ■
