MICHAEL DISANTO
HUDSON, Ohio—Michael R. DiSanto, a well-known optical industry trainer and writer, died May 25 following a battle with cancer. He was 60 years-old and lived in Hudson.

DiSanto’s optical career spanned three decades. A masters-certified optician, he was a past president of the Opticians Association of Ohio. Most recently he served as customer education director for Essilor of America. Prior to that he had been the technical lens representative for Bell Optical Laboratory of Dayton, Ohio.

An ABO-certified speaker for over 20 years, DiSanto was active on the national lecture circuit. He spoke at association meetings and national shows such as International Vision Expo. His book, The TOPS Dispensing Manual, has been adopted by many opticianry school programs.

DiSanto worked extensively with private practices, retail chains and wholesale laboratories to provide sales, technical and management training.

A fund was established to help DiSanto with medical and critical living expenses, which became necessary toward the end of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mike Disanto Fund, c/o the Opticians Association of Ohio, 1100-H Brandywine Blvd., Zanesville, OH 43701-7303. Checks should be payable to the Opticians Association of Ohio, with a notation for the Mike DiSanto Fund. ■
