Representatives of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, the Association of Regulatory Boards in Optometry, the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry and SECO International formed the National Steering Committee on Optometric Guidelines for Independent Continuing Education, to create a document to establish voluntary guidelines to “help ensure the independence of accredited optometric continuing education,” according to a statement by the committee.

The Optometric Guidelines for Independent Continuing Education are now in draft format and available for comments at www.SECOInternational.com through May 8. Comments made will be used to help structure the final revision of the guidelines.
