SAO PAULO, Brazil—Pearle Europe recently completed the acquisition of two Brazilian optical chains, to be operated from its regional head office for Latin America here.

The newly acquired Fotoptica chain operates 64 optical stores, 28 of them franchised, in four Brazilian states. Also acquired was Fabrica de Oculos, which has 33 locations in two Brazilian states.

The two chains together had net sales of €55 million in 2007, according to a Pearle Europe announcement.

Last August Pearle Europe—which is 98.2 percent owned by Hal Holding—also acquired Chile’s Rotter Y Kraus chain, which operates 45 eyewear stores plus 78 vision centers inside department stores in Chile.
