SAN MATEO, Calif.—Luxottica Group’s (NYSE: LUX) Oakley subsidiary opened its third N3L Optics interactive sunwear store at the Hillsdale Mall here on Nov. 21.

The second N3L Optics locations opened Oct. 22 in the Cielo Vista mall in El Paso, Texas.

The N3L concept, pioneered with a prototype location at Denver’s Cherry Creek shopping center in late May, uses new technology to let customers test various sports sunwear designs in simulated conditions. For example, consumers can research lens functionality on a touch-screen monitor to learn how various sun lenses perform in different environments, and get recommendations for sunwear for specific sports. N3L Optics also offers virtual try-on technology, and a UV chamber is available so customers can test photochromic lenses in bright light conditions.

Heading the N3L Optics project as senior vice president and brand director is Kendra Reichenau, formerly senior VP-general merchandise manager for Oakley’s Sunglass Icon stores.
