SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Dillon Optics has developed and is bringing to market a new high definition sunlens known as NIR lens technology, a polarized diffuse reflector that reduces internal reflections within the lens allowing for noticeably sharper clarity, according to the company.

The diffuse reflecting technology is enclosed within the lens to protect it from scratching or exposure to harmful environmental conditions. NIR lenses have oleophobic coatings on the front and back surfaces to resist oil and moisture and to make cleaning easier. The result is a durable lens with outstanding optics and a unique satin, matte-like finish appearance.

NIR lenses are made of CR-39; they block 100 percent of harmful UV light and meet the optical requirements of ANSI Z80.3. Dillon frames are manufactured in Italy. All plastic frames are made of high quality material Grylamid TR90.

The NIR lens technology has been designed by Steven Dillon, president of Dillon Optics a new company to the eyewear business. Dillon Optics is a supplier of guns and armament systems for the U.S. military. The lens technology has been patented in the U.S., as well as holding several foreign patents, according to Dillon.

The line of sunglasses is currently being sold and marketed in the Southern California region, but the company is planning to expand their market reach to the Colorado region, Dillon said. The sunglasses are priced to the dispenser at $100 for plastic and $115 for metal.
