Consumers Rate Kodak Lenses Highly in Brand Study

In a recent study conducted at the University of Arkansas, 64 progressive lens wearers were asked which of six different progressives they preferred without knowing the brand. The wearers found there was no statistically significant difference between the brands; all the lenses rated between 7 and 8 on a 10-point scale.

Yet when they did know the brand, wearers chose Kodak lenses from Signet Armorlite 39 percent more often than the other lenses. When patients were asked which lens they wanted to purchase based on their vision experience, the brand and value, Kodak lenses were preferred 2 to 1. When all factors were considered, wearers preferred Kodak lenses 56 percent more often, more than twice as often as other lenses that were tested. Wearers also rated Kodak lenses highest for trust, respect and loyalty.

New Products

Manufacturer: Leybold Optics USA
Description: New, premium AR coating process. EMInent represents a departure from previous AR coating process developments because it was developed as an "Integrated Process Solution," meaning that the AR layer stack was designed in conjunction with lens hard coatings to provide an optically superior and long lasting AR product.
Features: EMInent combines an anti-static layer along with a super hydrophobic top coat resulting in advanced scratch resistance and unsurpassed cleanability. Markus Fuhr, manager of ophthalmic products for Leybold Optics, said Leybold's goal for developing the EMInent process was to combine high scratch resistance (Bayer-test) with no loss in environmental performance such as crazing and deformations during the lifetime of the product. According to Fuhr, "EMInent is the only integrated AR process that can be paired with different lens hard coats to provide a seamless and superior lens treatment."
